Cassfilmforum welcomes students of timebased media and anyone else who might be interested. This weblog will keep you up to date with the workshop program and give you the opportunity to share your projects with other group members.
This weeks topic is filmstock for the super 8 filmmaker because of course we live in interesting times and I will try to guide you through the confusion brought about by the changeover from Kodachrome 40 to the new Ektachrome 64 reversal stock.
Two websites I would suggest you explore are firstly the Kodak site because here you will find all of the technical information you will need in order to plan your film project, then secondly I would look at Super8 nl
which is a Dutch Super 8 laboratory and general mine of information on all things small format.
The filmstock available for this semester's project will be a choice between the newly introduced Ektachrome 64 colour reversal, Tri X black and white reversal or Plus X black and white reversal.
My advice is to use Ektachrome 64 since this includes processing whereas you will have to pay for your own black and white reversal process (£10-15 each). Its your choice.
